Adam Vinatieri sets Guinness World Record for highest field goal at over 11,000 feet above sea level
Vinatieri's trip to the Swiss Alps was part of promoting the Patriots' November game in Munich, Germany.
CLEVELAND -- Oakland's Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 61-yard field goal on the final play of the first half of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. It's the fourth-longest field goal in NFL history.
Jaguars kicker Cam Little kicked the longest field goal in NFL history, 68 yards, last season in Las Vegas.
Adam Vinatieri added another record to his legendary career after making a 33-yard field goal at Jungfraujoch in the Swiss Alps. The kick came at 3,454 metres above sea level on snow-covered ground, earning him a Guinness World Record for the highest-altitude American football field goal.
Vinatieri played 24 seasons with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts; in that time, he became the NFL’s all-time leading scorer and all-time leader in field goals attempted and made. On Tuesday, he set the Guinness World Record for the highest field goal made with a kick atop the Swiss Alps, nearly 3,500 meters above sea level.
